Out of all the tried-and-true eczema home remedies, using Epsom Salt is one of the most practiced due to its simplicity and effectiveness. Even for those that don’t have eczema or psoriasis, bath salts are a way to gently exfoliate skin, leaving it smooth and nourished (and no, we’re not talking about the drug “bath salts” here!).
Why did we develop the Eczema Honey Foot and Hand Soak? It’s actually quite different from our other products which are used to provide spot relief and soothing. Our Foot and Hand Soak is the type of product that’s meant to be integrated as part of your therapeutic regimen of self-care. It’s not meant to be used necessarily on a daily basis, but regular usage can help those pesky itches from appearing in the first place, in addition to providing some immediate relief.
Lastly, there’s another important reason we developed this product: eczema on the hands and feet can be particularly painful and annoying. I personally have eczema on my feet, so you can imagine how something like this is important to me. By allowing the treatment to be submerged in water, you can really feel the product working in those cracks and crevices to help provide the relief you deserve.
How is this product different from other Epsom salts or bath salts on the market?
Before launching this product, we tested out many different types of Epsom Salts and bath salts. While they had some effectiveness, we found places where they could be improved. Most brands only use one or two types of salt. Epsom Salt, Dead Sea Salt, and Pink Himalayan Salt all have different compositions with a variety of benefits. They have different minerals with different therapeutic qualities. Combining them gives your body the best of all of them.
Another issue we had with other salt baths were the size of the grains. Other salt baths simply had grains that were too large which meant that it took a very long time for them to dissolve or they didn’t dissolve at all. Some salt grains were also too small which meant that you couldn’t really feel the texture on your skin. Our solution was to combine different size grains for the maximum benefit:
- Medium-grain Dead Sea Salt
- Fine-grain Epsom Salt
- Extra-fine grain Pink Himalayn Salt
- Medium-grade Pink Himalayan Salt
With this mixture of grain sizes, it dissolves easily but you can still feel the satisfying texture of the grains that help to exfoliate the skin.
More Than Just Salt
We added a few extra natural ingredients for two reasons 1) provide more benefit and 2) to provide a more therapeutic and luxurious feel. We add lavender for its calming scent and anti-inflammatory properties. We use both lavender extract as well as crushed lavender buds. By crushing the buds, it reduces the grain size and also releases more of the active ingredient.
Vitamin E oil is added for its high moisturizing and healing properties, even in small concentrations. It’s quite a premium ingredient. We used it here as opposed to other oils because you can receive the benefit without the product feeling overly oily or greasy.
To round things out, we use colloidal oatmeal for its gentle moisturizing and anti-itch properties. Finally, we use honey powder for its antibacterial properties. We use honey powder rather than raw honey since you can get the honey benefits without it feeling overly sticky.
Incorporating Eczema Honey Foot and Hand Soak Into Your Regimen
Eczema Honey Foot and Hand Soak can be used in the sink or in your bathtub. We recommend using one scoop of the mixture for best results. That’s why it comes in a generously-sized 16oz jar. Try using it a few times a week and watch to see how your skin improves!
